A preacher studies theology

I f you’d have told me on the night of the Sermon Of The Year final that less than five months later, I would be living onsite at the London School of Theology as a full-time student, I think my first reaction would have been to laugh, then look at you in absolute horror. This was not in my five-year plan. In my mind, my student days were well behind me – I’ve been there, done that, got the T-shirt (or hoodie in my case). After winning the competition, I told myself that the most logical solution to utilising the prize was to do an online course or, at most, a part time course while maintaining my job and staying at home. A tentative toe in the student world and the rest of me carrying on with normal life – the perfect balance, right?
