View from the pew: What are they thinking?

The vicar was battling the remains of a heavy cold, but it was not evident in her address. New to our group of parishes, this was only the first or second time most of us had heard her preach.
She launched without preamble into Psalm 29 – the first of our Bible passages. Often readings from the psalms are treated as ornaments in the service, and it was good to hear this passage thoroughly expounded. The preacher clearly loved the dramatic language in this psalm. She re-read some of the verses and compared them to the unleashed power of nature
