o Swinney talks to Jeremiah Johnston
Jeremiah Johnston is President of the Christian Thinkers Society and Associate Professor of Early Christianity at Houston Baptist University. He’s a prolific writer and travels internationally with the Museum of the Bible. He is married to Audrey and they have five children, including triplet boys! We met to talk in a swanky London hotel where he was staying while speaking at an apologetics conference.
I found him – appropriately – thoughtful and articulate and given the number of small children he has and his jetlag, surprisingly alert. I enjoyed our conversation hugely and left feeling buoyed in my faith and encouraged to engage my doubts with confidence.
The week we met I had had several conversations with fellow Christians who seemed to be discarding more and more of the essence of what people have agreed on since the days of the early church, including the deity and physical resurrection of Christ and the idea of truth itself. That was where I wanted to start off: are there core truths we can gather around and agree on?
