Finding truth in a chaotic world

Author: Andy Peck
The rise of social media over the last decade has meant that everything is right at your fingertips; headlines, stories, news reports, even church sermons have been reduced to 60 second snippets. It has been argued that the world has never been more connected, yet, in many ways, it is lonelier.  Countries hailed for their democratic process have had the validity of their general elections brought into question. We have seen the sudden and untimely deaths of celebrity figures at the height of their success as they sadly fall under the weight and pressure of it all. Racial divides continue to grow with everyone staking their claim and voicing their positions. Everything appears to be polarised, with the chasm between us growing with each passing day. Most recently, we have had the global health pandemic reminding us all of the fragility of life. Amid it all, right at the epicentre of the chaos, it becomes ever clearer to me that all of humanity is in search for truth. Over the past couple of years, buzz phrases like ‘fake news’ have become more centre stage, and the question ‘What is truth?’ has become a hot topic.   In running the W TALK Network, I have met countless women and millennials who have become apathetic with church at large. Many of them do not believe we are providing answers to the current global climate situation. However, I disagree. I believe, as culture becomes more fearful, it provides the church with a great opportunity in the midst of the chaos, to encourage others, put aside our own preconceived ideas and search for a deeper understanding of the truth.
