Alan shares his most used reference book – one that, after 40 years on his shelf, hasn’t gathered a speck of dust. It’s a book he constantly refers to for highlighting the historical context of the Bible and illuminating the truth within its stories.
For a significant proportion of the Christian population, the Bible is the immutable Word of God, but what evidence is available to show that at least some parts of the Bible are absolutely true? This begs the question, ‘What is truth?’ A dictionary definition is, ‘the quality of being in agreement with reality’. A Google search give six different types of truth in the Bible, one of which is historical truth – this book deals with this truth.
The historical truth For example, this book helps to answer questions about Genesis 1:1-3, the great f lood and Noah and the travels of the Jews journeying to the Promised Land. This is well researched book, drawing on a wide range of evidence to support what is written in the Bible, it makes use of scientific and technological advances, reports of archaeological surveys and other written evidence from non-Biblical sources.
