How are students coming to faith?

Author: Andy Peck
Over the last ten years, the church in the United Kingdom has been challenged about the faith of young adults, our post-18s. We’ve had to consider what happens to their faith when they grow out of youth group and leave home. The vast majority of Christian young people head off into higher education but how many keep the faith? And what about the rest of the student population, the unreached majority? I believe university can be a time for young people to learn to thrive in their own discipleship, not just survive Uni culture, and I also believe the student years provide a unique and amazing opportunity to make brand new disciples who have never before had a chance to meet Jesus.   STUDENT EVANGELISM   I work for Fusion, a movement passionate about student mission through the local church. I also really care about how we effectively communicate the good news of Jesus to a generation who may never before have heard it, as well as firing up existing disciples in evangelism. Having just completed my Masters degree in Theology, Ministry and Mission from Durham University, I decided to focus my dissertation research on how students are coming to faith at universities in England, to gather good news stories and discover what we, as the church, can learn from them.
