Impossible is a Dare Ben Cooley, SPCK (2017) RRP £7.99 five stars  Impossible is a Dare could be sold as the story of a charity’s beginnings, but it is so much more than that. It’s a call to arms; an invitation to join the movement which will change the world we live in. You might not feel like you have a passionate heart for justice, but I don’t think anyone could read this book and not be changed by it in some way. Ben Cooley defied his self-doubts and limitations when he pursued a vision, and surrounded himself with people who have challenged, pushed and dared him to chase down the impossible. His enthusiasm for the cause is clear – and it’s catching.   Impossible is a Dare tells the faith-filled stories of those who have captured Cooley’s vision, alongside the heartbreaking accounts of those who have been freed from captivity. Cooley talks about historical heroes who have ‘inspired a generation to stand up for justice’. Though his humility might not admit it, he is one of those heroes. But ‘the vision to see the abolition of slavery, cannot be achieved by one individual’ and just the ‘awareness [of slavery] is not enough to save someone’.
